History

Quinta de Santo António is located in the heart of the Dão region and its origins date back to the 16th century, taking into account the main characteristics of the Manor house: a simple façade with lightly decorated windows and an original corner window in the Manueline style. The second body of the Manor house consists of a Chapel, dedicated to Santo António, protector of the herds, whose construction began in 1736 and which wasn’t affected by the earthquake of 1755.

The third phase of expansion of the Manor house began in the 20th century and was carried out by a man who had been an emigrant in Brazil, who brought from this country as a reference the majestic clock tower existing in the Manor house. The current owner acquired Quinta de Santo António in 1999 with the firm intention of producing high quality wines that could express the unique character of the Dão.
